TEACHING PHILOSOPY

My Teaching Philosophy:


Preparation is Key

As a teacher, I will like to be more involve in educational activities, attend educational talks and participate in forums or conferences to further expand my knowledge.  Teacher must have much knowledge so that they can be a successful educator. Moreover, being up-to-date with the latest information, keeping in touch with global issues and getting my hands on the latest technology are some of the ways for me to improve myself. I believe that one of the most important ways for me to provide high quality teaching is to be prepared for each and every class period by knowing the material, having visuals prepared, and ordering the class in a logical and consistent manner. This to make sure the lesson on that day will progress in smooth way. I also feel that it is importance to reflect on every lesson that has been conducted so that I can identify the strengths and clarify my weaknesses to become better

Students Should be Encouraged to Participate

I believe that the best way for a student to develop a good understanding of a topic is to create opportunities for him or her to act rather than just let them read a book or listen to a lecture. The classroom should not be a venue for one-way communication but must include the participation from all students. Besides, expressing individual opinions and receiving feedback about their opinions is the most importance. I will incorporate themes, integrated units, projects, group work, individual work, and hands-on learning in order to make students be an active learner. For example, in all of the classes that I will teach I will frequently call on individual students to answer questions or respond to my inquiries. I believe the practical examples help students to better understand complex concepts because each student will need to actively focus his or her thinking on the concept rather than passively listening to a lecture.

Change is Good

To provide a quality teaching environment, an educator should be willing to change the way that he or she teaches. In order to achieve this, I will vary my teaching styles while at the same time encouraging critical thinking skills among my students. In addition to changing the style of my teaching, I also will try to make the way I present material to students is different from one day to the next day.  It is not attractive to use the same lecture style day after day and I am sure the students also can get bored. I will try to make my lessons more relevant and appropriate to my students so that they can relate whatever they learn in the classroom with the real environment outside of the academic life. At the end of the day, my students should be able to have self-confidence, good interpersonal skills and excellent knowledge once they have mastered the crucial skills to survive in the future days.
